Tuesday 12 November is the biggest day of the year for harness racing and one of the most anticipated social events in Canterbury's calendar: The Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup at Addington Raceway. Ladies - rally your friends and get along to Ladies Day at Riccarton on Wednesday 13 November for the ultimate girls’ day out. Treat yourself to live music, entertainment and pampering, along with plenty of on-course action. Friday is Show Day at Addington, where some of the best harness horses will be on show. Bring the kids, pack a picnic and sit back and enjoy a wonderful day's racing. All roads lead to Riccarton Park Racecourse on Saturday 16 November when the 3200 metre Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup will be run for the 150th time. One of the oldest and most popular races in New Zealand, it's been run each year since 1865 and twice in 1870. Over 20,000 punters will be trackside for this historic race. While the stakes will be high on the racetrack, there will also be plenty to play for out on the field.
