Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker spoke at Addington Raceway yesterday at the announcement of Christchurch Casino sponsorship for Cup Week. Christchurch Casino announced it would continue to support the two biggest races in Canterbury’s Cup and Show Week – the New Zealand Trotting Cup at Addington and the New Zealand Cup for gallopers at Riccarton Park in November.

Addington Raceway marketing and commercial manager Ged Mooar said about 23,000 people were expected to attend. Canterbury Racing sponsorship and promotions manager Chris Rowe hoped Riccarton would attract about 20,000 people.
